TECHNICAL DIVISION NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Negotiations concluded today with UNOCH and RCHSD agreeing on a Tentative Agreement (TA) for the Technical Division.  Ratification vote for this TA is Thursday, September 9, 2010.  The first TA was rejected by the Technical Division membership on July 20, 2010.  The biggest improvement this agreement has over the prior agreement is that there are across the board increases for every category of the bargaining unit for each year.  The UNOCH membership was very clear that they wanted across-the-board increases rather than bonuses.  It was a long and bitter negotiations but UNOCH was able to negotiate across-the-board increases and to preserve the wage grid in the process. (A summary of the increases follows).  While disappointed in the amount of increase RCHSD was willing to agree to, UNOCH was committed to preserving the integrity of the wage grid and having wage increases rather than bonuses. 
Having across-the-board increases has far reaching implications as wages increases compound over the years. The wage grid also moves with the wage increases, ensuring that the more senior employees will also benefit from a wage increase. All such increases will be retroactive to July, 2010.  A full description of the Tentative Agreement will be mailed to each Technical Division membership later in the week. 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
AND
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
